Construction Work
Environmental Remediation - The Environmental Remediation work at the site was successfully completed. As part of this work, approximately 2.5 meters of material was carefully excavated and removed from the site. Following completion of the excavation, 15 verification samples were collected and tested to confirm that the remaining soil meets the required environmental standards. The results confirmed that the site is clean, and ready for the next phase of construction.
Geothermal Drilling - As part of this work, 54 boreholes were drilled to a depth of approximately 870 feet below ground to support the building’s sustainable mechanical design. The geothermal loop system will use the stable temperatures below ground to help efficiently heat and cool the building, reducing reliance on conventional energy sources, and supporting the project’s overall sustainability goals.
Engineered Drill Pad - In preparation for the next phase of foundation and shoring works, the purpose-built working platform has been designed to safely support the large rotary drilling equipment required for these activities, which can exert ground pressures in excess of 200 kPa. The drill pad incorporates a geogrid reinforcement system together with approximately 600 mm of compacted Granular B stone, creating a stable and robust working surface from which the drilling operations can be safely undertaken.
Ongoing Construction Activities
Shoring & Deep Caisson Drilling (Aug-Oct 2026)
Shoring and structural caisson drilling commenced 1st Aug and is anticipated to continue through October 2026. The shoring system consists of a combination of pile-and-lagging and interlocking caisson walls installed around the full perimeter of the site. Once complete, these systems will safely retain the ground and provide support for the bulk excavation.In parallel, work is progressing on the building’s foundation system. A total of 74 structural caissons, ranging from approximately 1,000 mm to 1,200 mm in diameter, will be drilled to depths of up to approximately 30 metres, and socketed into the underlying bedrock. These deep structural foundations are engineered to safely transfer the full building load into stable ground. The bedrock provides the required load bearing capacity to support the building, reduces settlement, and stops all lateral and uplift forces.
This work represents a significant milestone as the project transitions from site preparation into the main excavation and foundation phases of construction
